Go MTB is a mountain bike personal proficiency award scheme which provides structured support to help individuals develop the skills required to make independent journeys into the outdoors. The course covers 4 themes with 5 levels of proficiency across these 4 themes.
The riding section develops good riding practice from starting, stopping, and being comfortable and safe when riding at level 1 through to jumps, line choice and pumping at level 5. Each level progresses and extends your riding skills ensuring you feel confident in the environment, and are able to practice the skill on your rides.

Sharing the outdoors is all about the environment we use when we ride. It's about how we consider others, our impacts and what our rights and responsibilities are in the natural environment we use.

Ensuring that you know what to do if there is an injury, this section also includes how to help make the area and people safe. At higher levels, this section does include a first aid course.

This section of each award covers eating, drinking, trailside maintenance, where to go and what to wear and carry.

Participants on the scheme will receive a high quality Go Mountain Bike logbook which stays with them from level 1 to level 5, and will also receive an individual certificate for each level completed.

Go Mountain Bike is suitable for all ages, and sessions can be tailored to suit the needs of all participants from Primary age to Adult Learners.
Go Mountain Bike is not only about learning to ride a bike off road - our structured coaching sessions also promote communication, self-confidence, team work and coordination.
